Paul's Boquilobo houses the most important garçal Portuguese territory and is important for concentration of particular species wintering waterfowl, coots and waders. Only place where it reproduces the common duck and one of the few in which the tern nesting Western Marsh and spoonbill. Portuguese main refuge of wigeon and clypeata and transit point for migratory songbird.
