The Tazekka National Park of Morocco was created in 1950 with an initial area of 6.8 km². It was to created to protect the natural resources at the top from Jbel Tazekka, particularly the grove of cedars (Cedrus atlantica), which are isolated on this peak in the Middle Atlas range . The park includes the 1980 m in altitude mountain, Jbel Tazekka, which dominates the surrounding area.

In 1989, the park was extended to include nearly 120 km² of ecological importance (forests of cork oak, holm oak, as well as canyons and caves, cascades, and rural landscapes). (zit, wikipedia)

Créé en 1950 par Arrêté Visiriel du 11 Juillet, sur une superficie initiale de 680 hectares, le Parc National de Tazekka avait pour objectif principal protéger toutes les ressources naturelles existantes au sommet du Jbel Tazekka, mais plus spécialement la futaie de cèdres (Cedrus atlantica), qui se trouve isolée sur ce piton, loin des autres cédraies marocaines, soit celles du Moyen Atlas, ou celles du Rif.
