suburb, neighbourhood
Bukit Damansara (or Damansara Heights) is a western suburb in Kuala Lumpur, positioned high up on the hills in the midst of a quiet surrounding, just minutes away from the hurly-burly of the city centre. The area's transformation into an up-market neighbourhood was a slow, gradual and organic process that first started in the 1960's. Bukit Damansara still possess the cozy charms that attracted the original inhabitants who were mostly senior government servants and expatriates. The main roads are broad and lined with shady trees. Each bungalow is differently built or renovated, quite unlike the faceless, gated-colonies now mushrooming everywhere.
Of course, good old Bukit Damansara is not immune to the invasion of the so-called modern living concepts. New property projects with fancy names and regimented designs are already infiltrating the area.
