This former railway bridge near Fairview MT was constructed by the Great Northern Railway. It is 1,320 feet in length and crosses the Yellowstone River. One section of the bridge was designed to be raised, allowing river traffic to pass underneath. The bridge carried part of a 37 mile rail line connecting Fairview with Watford City ND, which opened in 1913. It remained in service until the last Burlington Northern freight train crossed the bridge on June 5, 1986. There were a total of 10 railroad lines built across the Yellowstone River, of which 5 remain in use.
