Queensbridge is the largest public housing development in North America. It was built in 1939 and is located between Vernon Blvd and 21st street. It is composed of 96, 6 story buildings spread over six square blocks, and has 3,142 units. The development was infamous in the 1980s and 90s for the drugs and violence that plagued the area. In Recent times it has cleaned itself up considerably. It is also a notable source of hip-hop music.
