Tsental'ny (Kitaisky) Baths (Moscow)

nonresidential building, 1892_construction, object of cultural heritage of regional importance (Russia)

Built in 1890-1893 by the architect S. S. Eybushitts probably in association with Lev Kekushev.

In 1881, during the lifetime of Gerasim Ivanovich Khludov, the first housing complex was for ordinary Muscovites and later opened the doors of bath rooms of the nobility. Finally, for a select audience there appeared bath houses: Russian, Finnish, Turkish, all finished with valuable species of red wood and gold leaf. Because of well-trained staff at these bath hourses served only Moscow nobility: grand dukes, earls, Governor-General and his family, visiting dignitaries and royalty from St. Petersburg.

There was everything and even a little bit. Booths for masseurs and bone setters, a separate doctor's office, the best varieties of scented soap, a luxuriously furnished lounge (with soft chairs) where you could order all sorts of refreshments (or alcoholic) drinks. In short, here the body and soul could relax.

The baths were located here a short distance from the Nelginnaya River which is now hidden underground.
