From 1994 to 2013, this was Fitzwilly's, a two-story bar and restaurant (hamburgers and wings). Built in 1930 as an apartment building, it was converted to restaurant use in the 1980s. It closed forever in May 2013 when the lease wasn't renewed, but in August 2013, it reopened as The Backyard, with a remodeled interior and featuring a similar menu.

Comments

  • This restaurant used to be Two Pesos, a cheap taco bar fashioned in the style of the more familiar, Taco Cabana. Many old dorm-bound Ags lament the day Two Pesos closed.
  • Before Two Pesos (and it's rather odd color scheme), this was Flying Tomato Pizza, a chain of pizza restaurants popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
