A memorial erected in 1878 to remember the eleven Protestant martyrs who died during the reign of Queen Mary and who met their death on June 27th, 1556. These people were burnt at the stake on Stratford Green before a large crowd of thousands of onlookers.

  • There is absolutely no evidence for them having been burnt on 'Stratford Green'. It is far more likely that they were burnt at Bow, then know as 'Stratford-le-bow'.
