A remnant from when this part of Lincoln Park was a cemetery in the 1870s. Explanations abound about why this mausoleum wasn't moved with the others. Among them are bribes to city officials and inability of officials to locate survivors to receive permission.

Although the name "Couch" is carved above the door, records have been lost so it is unknown exactly who the family was or how many people are interred here.
