Old Howard Beach is a sub-neighborhood of Howard Beach in the New York City borough of Queens, NY. It was the first section of Howard Beach to be developed by William J. Howard (the neighborhood's namesake) in 1898. That year he built a large hotel and several cottages atop a former goat farm and several acres of filled-in marsh land between Hawtree Creek and Shellbank Basin. Some of these old homes still stand, the hotel however is long gone.
