Section of early 1800's landfill which was once part of a larger district which was demolished 100 years later and excavated to allow for longer piers (the US Navy did not allow the piers to extend further into the river, requiring the shoreline to be cut back.

The 5.5 acre park at Little West 12th Street will come with a sports field, a salt marsh, a dog run, and sandy beach with kayak access. It is being designed by James Corner Field Operation with a completion date of 2023.
