This building was originally built in 1907 as Elbow Lake High School. An addition was constructed on the north side in the 1940's. It was renamed Elbow Lake-Wendell High School following the consolidation with the Wendell Public School in 1973. In 1977, the school was renamed West Central High School after merging with the Barrett Public School. In 1993, the West Central School District merged with the Hoffman-Kensington School District to become the West Central Area School District. The high school was moved to Barrett, and elementary schools were opened in Elbow Lake and Kensington. The building was demolished in 1996.
