Completed in 1990 '10 Lower Spadina Avenue' is a 23 m seven-storey low-rise adjacent to Lake Ontario in Toronto's Harbourfront District. In classic modernism style the building's steel frame skeleton is surrounded by an aluminum and dark blue glass façade with concrete accents.

Most space is occupied by commercial and professional firms with the ground floor hosting services and shops. A special tenant is the Consulate General of Turkey with offices on the second and third floors.

Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto became effective as of 29 December 2010. It is located in downtown at the Queens Quay Boulevard and Spadina Avenue intersection on the Lakeshore. Our area of jurisdiction covers the provinces of Ontario (except Ottawa with the National Capital District and its East), Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia, as well as Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.

CG's Biography

Mr. Ali Rıza Güney, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto is a graduate of Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi in Ankara. Mr. Güney obtained his BA Degree in International Relations at the Middle East Technical University. He started his postgraduate studies at Bilkent University, where he completed the MA Programme in Political Science, and then, further continued his academic work to receive an Advanced Diploma in International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University, Bologna Centre by the Jean Monnet scholarship of the European Union.

Consul General Güney joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in the last quarter of 1996. He served at the Turkish Embassy in Riyadh between 1999-2002, and Turkish Consulates General in Karlsruhe and Jerusalem between 2002-2004 and 2005-2009, respectively.

At the Headquarters, Mr. Güney assumed duties at the Deputy Directorate-General for the Overseas Promotion of Turkey (1997-1999) and the Deputy Directorate-General for the Americas (2004-2005). He was entrusted with the Head of the Middle East Department position in 2009, which he served two years until his appointment as the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto.

Mr. Ali Rıza Güney assumed his duty in Toronto on December 1, 2011.

Born in Ankara in 1971, Consul General Güney is married with one child.
