9-story university building completed in 1897. Designed by Robert Maynicke as a commercial store loft building, it has granite piers that change to brick near the top of the ground floor, except for those framing the corner, which are banded stone and topped by ornate Corinthian capitals. The upper floors are clad in buff-colored brick. There is a stone cornice with paneled swag above the 3rd floor. The windows are organized into two outer bays of triple windows, each culminating in an round-arch at the 8th floor, and inner bays of paired windows. The recessed outer bays also have small cornices at each floor level. At the 8th floor, the piers are topped by elaborate capitals, and the arches have keystones. The top floor has an arcade of segmental-arched windows, and is crowned by a projecting modillioned metal roof cornice. On the narrow south facade, there is one recessed bay and arch, with a single window to the left on each floor. An iron fire escape runs down the center of the longer, eastern façade.

NYU acquired the building in 1953 for use as a mathematics center. It is now occupied primarily by anthropology faculty.
