Fort Wayne’s former City Light and Power Building, constructed between 1928 and 1935, now boasts crayon-colored smokestacks and interactive exhibits in its ingenious new role as Science Central. Billing itself as a "playground for the mind," Science Central makes science fun with moon walks, weather stations, parachute drops, and more. The former electricity plant was vacant for almost 20 years before Science Central adaptively reused the building. Children and adults visit the plant and see original generators, turbines, and water- and coal-power systems. Interactive exhibits encourage exploration of other science-related topics.
