Gorzycki Middle School was built in 2009 as an effort to build a junior-high school deep in Southwest Austin, in the Circle C Area. In 2010, the school had 834 students. The school is named after Diane Elaine Gorzycki (1954-2008), who had a career as a music teacher and a middle school band conductor, primarily in Bailey Middle School. The mascot for Gorzycki is the tiger.
