This combined middle/high school opened in fall 2016. Previously, it was the home of West High School, a modern building built too large for the size of West ISD (projected growth never happened). The school was heavily damaged with the fertilizer plant explosion (basically an earthquake-level explosion). The classes were moved to the middle school for the remainder of the 2012-2013 year and several years afterward.
