Located 10 miles south of downtown Austin, Manchaca's heart contains Menchaca Elementary school, many privately owned businesses, and the Manchaca Firehall. The firehall is a popular local restaurant and meeting place and is also home to the Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department. As of 2010, the current population of Manchaca is 1,133. The majority of the population are Caucasians and are approaching/pass the retirement age.
