  • If you notice on the eastern side of the island, small rings in the ocean. These are tuna farms for blue fin tuna. They are about 120 to 200 feet across. Tuna farming is good in that it feeds the hungry. That in itself is not bad. What is bad is that the tuna captured are often young and have no opportunity to breed. Nor can they migrate. They do not breed in cages and they reach maturity in around 12 years after birth. They are fed, fattened up and after proper weight are slaughtered and sold mainly to the fish market in Japan.
  • Dude above: I think you meant to put your comment on the South Isla Todos Santos page. There aren't any tuna farms in the waters near South Coronado, but there are some east of the Isla Todos Santos.
