Interstate 74 (North Carolina)

Interstate 74 (I-74) is an east-west mainline interstate route with two major sections: from Davenport, Iowa to Cincinnati, Ohio, and a partially completed route in North Carolina with three segments. Although a continuous route has been authorized by congress since 1995, these two sections are unlikely to be connected due to a lack of interest in West Virginia. In North Carolina, it is planned to run from the Virginia line near Mount Airy to the South Carolina line near Carolina Shores. It will also pass by Winston-Salem, High Point, Asheboro, Rockingham, and Lumberton. Three completed portions include: an overlap with I-77 and the Mount Airy bypass; Winston-Salem to Rockingham with a 60 mile overlap of I-73; and Laurinburg to Lumberton.
