Interstate 695 (I-695) is an east west auxiliary interstate route connecting Interstate 395 in downtown Washington, D.C. to Interstate 295 near Anacostia. It is also known as the Southeast Freeway. It was originally intended to end at Southeast Boulevard where it would meet Interstate 295, however, Interstate 295 was never completed. Its easternmost 3/4 mile was reconstructed from 2009 to 2015, including the 11th Street Bridges, and interchanges with Interstate 295 and Southeast Boulevard. The interstate is also an important link from the Baltimore Washington Parkway and D.C. Route 295 (Anacostia Freeway) to downtown.

There are plans to renumber Interstate 695 as an extension of Interstate 395 to reduce confusion over the short route. The change has been approved by FHWA but the actual change and replacement of signs is still being planned and may occur in 2022.
