The book "Byculla to Bangkok" by journalist /writer Mr Hussain.Zaidi definitely has a bit of its roots in the famous chawl building of Bombay now Mumbai, "Haji Ismail.Gani Building".

Had lived in "Haji Ismail Gani Building" adjacent to "Palace Talkies" between 1968 to 1975. In those years the theatre was doing reasonably well commercially , in fact flourishing.They would screen "English Movie" matinee shows in that theater and vividly remember seeing the classic children's film "One thousand and one Dalmatians" at that theatre.Learnt the meaning of "Black Market" ticketing observing the Palace Thetre touts literally keeping the "House-full" boards for weeks, minting money through selling tickets in "Black Market". Sadly, all that has disappeared in the 21st century with the introduction of "Multiplex Theatres" in Mumbai..Its a matter of time before this last relic of the "TALKIES ERA" of Bombay theater is demolished to make way for something more profitable as has happened to other nearby theatres in that locality , most notably being "Jai Hind Talkies" at Chinchpokli and Alexandra talkies at Nagpada.

Yes anand bhavav was the palace of HH maharaja of bansda SHRI digvirendrasinhji solanki.

I am bharat Gas consumer. Customer number. 100076, I had booked my cylinder booking no. 148698125 dated 30/3/2014. To my surprise, on 6/4/2014, i received SMS that my cylinder is delivered on 31/3/2014. On 8/4/2014, i approached the dealer Anand Gas situated at 15, Shatunjey appartment, Tanaji Chock, new Mill Road, Kurla west. mumbai 400070 and informed him that where is my cylinder which is supposed to have been delivered to me on 31/3/2014. Again to my surprise, Mr. Shayam Mishra who entertained me at Anand gas informed me that all bookings of 31 r canceled by complain. when i informed me that how it is possible when i have already received a SMS that my cylinder is delivered on 31/3/2014, he ask me give 2 days time to make necessary enquiry. however. since there is neither any reply from delear nor my cylinder had reached, today again when i approached the dealer, still there is no commitment or responsible rely in the matter. I suspect that there is every reason for me to believe that there is a foul play as 31st was the last day of accounting year 2013/2014 and my being a subsidies cylinder, it has been robbed. Now if i make a fresh booking, my new cylinder will accounted in my fresh accounting years of 2014/2015. This is the practise employed by this dealer as in past also when cylinder went missing and when noise were made, they were delivered but without giving any bill and this has happened with me as well as with other known people with whom i interacted. u r requested to make a through investigation in the matter checking all records as to 1. where the missing cylinder went ? 2. Without cylinder being delivered, how the SMS was sent ? 3. investigate what was the number fo cylinders that were suppose to be delivered on 31st March and make a enquiry with such customer what happened to their cylinders ? 4. Since there is big difference between price of a subsidies cylinder and normal unsubsidised cylinder and this could result in big lose to the govt. exchanger, this is a big scam and who all r the people involved in this racket ? ur immediate response in action will be highly appreciated.

Hi Renuka !!! Me too studied upto IX in AMK PHSchool, I remember you lived across our Principal Kewalramani's house. He had two sisters Abhiichandani and Mansukhani, I remember Rao Teacher and Susy Alexander Mam. Rao Teacher had a son named Vijay and we used to stay together in Mira Mansions at Sion. Nice to find you on facebook. I remember a few names of our classmates like Sharda Reddy, Two Lalithas, Sunita, Swadeshi and brother Ashok, Hemlata and Daksha (staying opp your Appt.), Esther & among boys Anil, Harish, Satish, Eshwar, Bala, Mohan, Charanjit Singh, Manjit Singh, Inder and Rajkumar Obhan... Only last four are in my contact. From Sion our family shifted to Andheri and I could do my XI after a gap of 4 years (1975), from this School only, and later joined Khalsas. I am 60 now, but am still happy to find a childhood classmate on facebook.
