This is the reservoir behind Tehri dam built for generating hydro-electric power. The old Tehri town was situated here. The town was moved to a new location as the dam was built and the water submerged the old town. The Place of the Dam is constructed on the highest possibilities of Earthquakes.
The last two kilometers of the reservoir have already been filled with sediments.
