Patiala is a city in the Punjab state of India. It is the fourth largest city in the state and is the administrative capital of Patiala district.
Patiala district is one of the erstwhile princely cities of Punjab. Patiala means Pati (land) of Baba Ala Singh, who founded the state of Patiala. As of 2001 India census, Patiala had a population of 302,870.
