Stopped to make way for the a120 in 2001, Braintree Auto Club used to be a dirt banger racing track, which also included hotrods, stock cars and minis for over 50 years. you can just see the outline of the track and where the pits where

  • so many memories of my mum and dad racing here from mini 1000's to having a 1800 mini pick and 1380 45 webber carbed mini hot rods .. also Brings back memories of places such as their old friends Alan Thorndykes atspeed work shop over charfleets industrial estate where in the mid 80's i first learn about sawfega :) ..
  • My dad ‘ Keith Childs ‘ Was Hot Rod ‘ 206 ‘ 1981 Champion He had A Light Blue Mini Pickup With I believe a 1385 engine in it ! He won the championship in his light blue mini then followed that by Racing A ‘ Yellow Mini With Red Front ‘ Braintree had Fond Memories For me Growing Up ! I raced in the Bangers Under ‘ Lethal Weapon ‘ No. 476 ! Pete Childs ! Brilliant Fun Not For The ‘ Faint Hearted !
