Commissioned in May 2002, Station Kings Point is one of the newest stations in the US Coat Guard's 1st District. Wholly located on the grounds of the US Merchant Marine Academy, the station shares its quarters and dock space with USMMA facilities.

The stations area of responsibility extends from the Byram River in Connecticut to Hells Gate in New York City.
