Vyru (Voru) was deployment base for the 305th Regiment of the 23rd Missile Division (from 1982 40th Division) of the 50th Missile Army.
Both bases are presently operated by the Estonian National Defence Forces and therefore not accessible.
The 23 RVSN Division was headquartered in Valka (Valga), Latvia. The 23rd comprised the 94th Regiment (two surface launch complexes outside Haapsalu), the 846th Regiment (two surface complexes and one Dvina silo complex), the 304th Regiment (two surface launch complexes south of Rakvere), Vyru (locally written Võru) (two surface launch complexes) and, until 1982, the 39th Regiment (two surface launch complexes and on Dvina silo complex south of Aluksne).
The 40 RVSN Division was headquartered in Ostrov (two sets of four surface launch pads plus one Dvina Complex), and also stationed in Aluksne from 1982 (two sets of four surface launch pads plus one Dvina complex) and Vyru from 1982 (two sets of four surface launch pads plus one Dvina complex). The 40th Div also had one Chusovaya (R-14U) Complex at Taybola, 50 km South of Murmansk.
