She was laid down as the steam passenger ship Servia and launched as RMS Carinthia.On 30 December 1939, she was recommissioned as a armed merchant cruiser.On 6 June 1940,she was torpedoed by U-46.She remained afloat, but two officers died in the attack. She foundered the next day.
