Hamilton County is dominated by the city of Cincinnati, which is also it's seat. It was named for Alexander Hamilton, one of the US's founding fathers and the country's first Secretary of the Treasury. (Alexander Hamilton famously died as a result of a gunshot wound incurred during a duel with Vice President Aaron Burr.)
Hamilton County was established as the Northwest Territories' second county in 1790 (after Washington County).
Most of the county is urban or suburban. It shares a border with Kentucky along the Ohio River.
Towns in Hamilton County include: Blue Ash, Cheviot, Cincinnati, Deer Park, Fairfield, Forest Park, Harrison, Indian Hill, Loveland, Madeira, Milford, Montgomery, Mount Healthy, North College Hill, Norwood, Reading, Sharonville†, Silverton, Springdale, St. Bernard, and Wyoming.
