A number of large homes built by locally known architects starting in the late 1800s and continuing through the mid 1900s. Information on the district is available at the Marathon County Historical Society museum. Only the museum and the Yawkey house are open to the public. Most are private residences but a few of the houses operate as bed and breakfast properties or restaurants.
