  • Though Vellore is mostly identified by the Jail, it has number of good features in it like the Fort which has the Jalagandeeswarar Temple, a Church and a Mosque in it. The Voorhees college which is 109 year old and serving for the poor is one of the important place in Vellore, in which our former Prime Minister Dr.S.Radha Krishnan studied. I am proud to be a pard in this place. The recent proud of Vellore is the Golden Temple called Sreepuram at Thirumalaikodi. I hope Vellore will become more famous because of this Temple.

  • Vellore Fort (வேலூர் கோட்டை) is a large historic 16th century fort situated in Vellore town near Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was built by Nayakar chieftains of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is constructed with large granite blocks and is known for its grand ramparts, wide moat and robust masonry. It passed from the Nayaks to Bijapur Sultans, then Marathas and to Carnatic Nawabs and finally to British until Independence. During the British rule the fort held Tipu Sultan's family and the last Nayak king of Kandy (Sri Lanka) in captivity. The fort also houses a Hindu temple, Christian church and Muslim mosque. The first rebellion against British rule erupted at this fort in 1806. The temple within the Fort is famous for the magnificent carvings. The fort is also a witness to the tragic massacre of the Vijayanagara royal family of Emperor Sriranga Raya I am missing my native (vellore)

மாவீரன் கான் சாஹிப்: மதுரையைச் சேர்ந்த மருதநாயகம் பிள்ளையாய் இருந்தும், பின்னர் யூசுப் கான் சாஹிபாக மாறிய வெள்ளையர்களுக்கு சிம்ம சொப்பணமாகத் திகழ்ந்த யூசுப் கான் சாஹிப் தூக்கிலிடப்பட்ட பிறகும் நிம்மதியாய் உறங்க முடியாத வெள்ளையர்கள், அவனது உடலை தோண்டி எடுத்து தலைவேறு, உடல் வேறாக பிரித்து நாட்டின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளுக்கு கொண்டு சென்று அடக்கினார்கள் என்றால் எந்த அளவுக்கு வெள்ளையர்களை எதிர்த்து அந்த மாவீரன் அன்று போராடி இருப்பான் என்று சிந்தித்துப் பாருங்கள்! மதுரை சம்மட்டிபுரத்தில் அந்த மாவீரன் வாழ்ந்ததற்கான அடையாளமாக அவனது அடக்கஸ்தலம் இருக்க, இந்த மாவீரனை நினைவூட்ட ஒரு நடிகன் தேவைப்படுகிறான் என்றால் எத்தனை வேதனைக்குரிய விஷயம். மாப்பிளா மார்கள் போராட்டம்: 1921ல் வெள்ளையனுக்கு எதிராக கிலாபத் இயக்கம் கண்ட 100க்கும் அதிகமான மாப்பிளாமார்கள் கேரளாவின் திரலிருந்து ஏற்றி கோயம்புத்தூருக்கு கூட்ஸ் வண்டியில் அடைக்கப்பட்டு அனுப்பி கொல்லப்பட்டாகளே! அவர்கள் அடக்கஸ்தலங்கள் இன்று கோவை ரயில் நிலையில் அருகில் அவர்களின் வரலாற்றைச் சொல்லும் விதமாக உள்ளதே இதை எப்படி மறந்தீர்கள் (மறைத்தீர்கள்!) காந்திஜி அழைப்பு விடுத்த கள்ளுக்கடை போராட்டத்திற்கு மதுரையில் கைதான 19பேரில் 10 முஸலிம்கள் தங்களின் 13 சதவிகிதத்தையும் தாண்டி, 50 சதவிகிதத்திற்கு அதிகமாகப் பங்கு கொண்டுள்ளனர் என்று குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. கப்பல் ஓட்டிய தமிழன் வா.உ.சி. லி கப்பல் வாங்கியதற்கு உதவிய தமிழன்? அன்றைய வெள்ளையனின் கடல் ஆளுகையை எதிர்த்து சுதேசிக் கப்பல் விடுவதற்கு ஒரு டிரஸ்ட் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. கப்பல் வாங்குவதற்கு அன்றைய இந்திய நாளிதழில் பாராதியார் விளம்பரம் போட்டதற்கு வந்ததோ சில நூறு ரூபாய்களும், சில அனாக்களும்தான். ஆனால் கப்பலை வாங்குவதற்கு அன்றைய மதிப்பில் ரூ. 10 லட்சம் வழங்கிய ஹாஜி பக்கீர் முஹம்மதுவை மறந்து விட்டார்களா? I am proud so b'coz I had born in district capital. I received all the major facilities by near (collector office,emp. off.,CMC,Government hospital, very good education and well transport system etc.). I feel sorry about the people whose coming from very deep villages.B'coz in some villages there is no proper transport and electric facility too yet. Think it and we can do them some needfull things. I am born with one friend (we are twins, Name - VENKATESAN)in the great world fame CMC and we r the first persons in our family born in CMC. Afterwards our relations are all preferred CMC. But it is a veryhot in summer and very cold in winter compare to other palces in tamil nadu , that why the jail is constructed here to control the convicted person physically and morally. It is famous for good and cheapest food. compare to other places the cost of living is very cheap. No violence in this district compare other district. Most of the people nearer to chennai like settle to here.
