Little village, about 2500 inhabitants.
In the past Dara was a city-fortress builded by the Byzantine Emperor Anastasius I around 504-507 A.D. The center was crucial during the wars between Byzantines and Persians around the VI century, the city started a slow decline after the Persian conquest in 573 A.D.
