Selfoss

The town of Selfoss in south Iceland with 5000 inhabitants.
Literal translation: Proxy(little?)-waterfalls.

It is the largest part of a municipality called Sveitarfélagið Árborg. It extends south to the sea and includes about 1500 rural residents outside of the city limits.

It is on "Highway 1" AKA the "Ring Road" (HringVegur) which runs along the coast of the entire island. it is also called Þjód vegur (National road).

While Selfoss is sometimes mentioned as the burial place of Bobby Fischer, the grave is to the northeast in nearby Laugardælir, at the church graveyard.
