  The story I heard was that this boat was supposedly torched by the owner in an insurance scam. His insurance company figured it out and denied his claim. The boat then washed from it's mooring onto the reef and was left abandoned there. This supposedly all happened a few years ago. I was in Lahaina in July 2008 and the boat was still sitting there on the reef!
