former Siemens Fossil Power Generation Manufacturing plant for gas-turbines used in power generating plants. Siemens AG has announced that the plant will close in July 2011, and manufacturing will be moved to an expanded plant in Charlotte, North Carolina. The reason given is that the Canadian market for gas-turbine plants is drying up while the market for them is cooking south of the border.

There was brief hope that Siemens would open a wind-turbine manufacturing plant in Hamilton, but that plant will instead be built in Tillsonburg.
