  • This a complex consisting of two schools. One is the Govt. LP School and the other is the Aided UP School. The Aided UP school was established atleast sixty years ago by the late SRI V C GOVINDAN NAIR, who was the founder manager and also the first Head Master. Sri V C Maash was a renowned figure in the locality. He basically belong to Ainkalam where Cherunnerath House is situated. It was due to his untiriging efforts in those days that Perumparamba got its own post office. He was the first Post Master there. The Post office started functioning as Branch P.O. He has done a lot of social work to the village. He was a very learned man who has passed his Intermediate college exam from the then Madras. At the age of about 75, he tragically met with an accident near his house and died after 5 days at Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam.
  • One can immediately mention the names of two people who were selfless while serving the people of Perumparamba and other places around. V C MAASH has left his footprint in the village in various ways. It was due to his untiring efforts, that this village got two schools. While he was the Head Master of the UP school, the standard of education was very high. He had his own ways and style of teaching. For example, when he teaches SOCIAL STUDIES subject, he will sit on his chair and call all the students around his table. He must have already kept ready either of the Atlas Map Books (one Historical and the other Geographical). And depending the topics of either history or geography, he will take the lessors by referring the particular places in the Atlas and he will get the students involved in searching the particular places, geographical regions, historical empires etc., in the atlas. By this practice, the students got to have better ideas of various historical or geographical places in the world. Such systematic way of teaching is not heard to-day. It is also a fact that it was due to his efforts that the present Vijaya U P School, Thuyyam was set up. Shri T V Gopalan Nair was a teacher of Perumparamba UP school. Shri V C MAASH advised and helped Shri Gopalan Nair to open a UP school at Thuyyam and Shri Gopalan Nair was immensely helped to set up the School and Shri Gopalan Nair was the first MANAGER and HEAD MASTER. During those days, the students had to walk a long way to reach Perumparamba UP for their studies for the reason that there were no other schools in the nearby areas except in Kasladi & Vattamkulam. There were some protests from some vested interests at that time against opening a UP school at Thuyyam. But ignoring all such protests, V C MAASH moved forward to help Shri Gopalan Nair to begin the school at Thuyyam. In a short period the UP school at Thuyyam came with flying colours. What I wanted to submit that V C MAASH had worked for the education and upbringing of the students outside Perumparamba area also. The other notable dignitary of Perumparamba is SHRI K P BALAKRISHNAN VAIDYAR (KAANKAPARAMBIL BALAKRISHNAN VAIDYAR, son of LATE SHRI PONNAN KUTTY VAIDYAR). Though Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar had learned ARYURVEDAM from the the Guruvayur Samskritham Colledge, he was more a PAARAMPARYA VAIDYAR trained under his father who was virtually a saint towards the end of his life. In the last days of his life, Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar also toed the same line of life. This Vaidyar had no particular fees for consulting. Whatever the patients keep on his table is the fees. But in many cases, if Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar realises that the poor patient is not capable of purchasing the medicines due to their poverty in those days, Vaidyar used to give them medicines FREE from his dispensary. We have to compare such a noble soul with the present greedy doctors in the medical world. Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar was having an agency of ARYA VAIDYA PHARMACY (COIMBATORE) operated from his clinic at Parumparamba and his sales during many periods will end in a loss because a good part of the stock of medicines was used for charitable purposes among the needy and poor people. Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar had also done commendable social work and he was a member of the first EDAPAL PANCHAYAT BOARD. Shri Balakrishnan Vaidyar left this world about two months back after a brief illness. The massive mourners assembled for his funeral was an indication of his popularity and noble work.
