There is a plaque beside the street-level, north-side entrance which reads:

CHILLIWACK CITY HALL

Completed in 1912, this building is the only pre-1930
Canadian municipal hall constructed entirely of rein-
forced concrete. In size and purpose it is typical of a
class of modestly scaled civic structures built in many
smaller centres in the early 20th century. Its distinctive
classically inspired styling, unusual for such a building
in this period, is strongly reflected in the pediment and
columns of its imposing portico. Designed by Vancouver
architect Thomas Hooper to house the city's administra-
tive, police and courtroom facilities, it also served as an
architectural symbol of civic pride.

There is also writing on the building itself which says: Built in 1911
