This Third System fort was begun in 1850.
As of 1851, it was intended to be armed with twenty-nine 32-pounder seacoast guns, five 18-pounder guns, five 12-pounder guns, three field pieces, twenty flank howitzers, twenty 8" heavy seacoast howizters, two 8" light howitzers, three 10" light mortars, two 8" light mortars, one 16" stone mortar and five coehorn mortars, for a total of 95 guns.
