  • This village seems to have a some history behind it as there is a very old temple behind the Zamindar's Property .People even say that the beheaded idol ,still in the premises of the temple was an act from Mughal era during the great war between 5 kingdoms in Andhra Pradesh. The village seems to have entered this digital era ,with no access roads and not even a single bus service. The only way for the villagers is to walk over an old bridge from colonial days (Seems Brits did more good to this village than 6 decades of democracy) and through the fields to a rail head 2 miles away in Pallikona. There is still a very low literacy rate in reality and its clearly evident the goodness from our policies is not reaching these villagers. Altogether this village is beautiful and ideal for taking a walk in the fields and for a taste of rural india.
  • I also make a point to visit the temple built and managed by these zamindars at Kotipally where our family was also a part of the annual religious rituals. We also had some acres of cultivable land near Chinapulivarru and Donepudi villages. I fondly memorise my childhood spent in those paddy fields walking from Vellatur in every harvesting season, studying at schools in Vellatur. I last visited the temple at Kotipally on 29 Jan 2012 which is not patronised by many these days, except 1 or 2 local brahmin divotees.
  • Hi, I am Yarlagadda Police from Peteru. I am multiple world records holder.I works in SCCL. There in the Wikpeida it is mentioned that there were two forts under Rachur Zamindars. One is in Rachuru and the other in Peteru. I know that the fort is not in Peteru. It is in the old town of Repalle. I doubt whether the old town of Repalle was part of Peteru once. I want to get my doubt clarified. Contact No.9493004826
  • I am quite happy to learn from your comments about this village and the temple. My great grandfather (whose name I am not aware of) was one of the Zamindars at that time. This story I heard from my late mother when I was a kid. In fact it seems this temple lord is our Kuladaivam. Unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to visit our native place, as my grandfather Late Mr Rachur Srinivasa Iyya who was also a Zamindar, migrated to Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu for reasons better known to him and subsequently my father Late Mr S Sundaram then shifted his base to Jamshedpur (Tatanagar) as he got a job in Tata Steel. I am now in Jamshedpur only with my family. I am very keen to visit my ancestor's place and pray at the temple. Hope this materialises soon. I would love to receive more information about this place.
  • The fort belongs to Manikyarao jamindar.
