First private university in Ghana. This university is affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. It is located at Oyibi and was established in 1979. The University was initially called the Adventist Missionary College and was located at Bekwai-Ashanti. It was transferred to Adenta near Accra in 1983 until it was relocated to its present site near Oyibi (Mile 19 on the Accra-Dodowa Road) in 1989 and was renamed Valley View College.

Thus, Valley View University became the first private institution in Ghana to be granted national accreditation in 1995. It was affiliated to affiliated to Griggs University in Silver Springs, Maryland, USA in the same year.
