  This place used to be known locally as Ashrama Bus stand. Older Townspeople still refer to this name. This is called so because the Ramakrishna Ashrama (Now called Ramakrishna Math) is very near and was the most important land mark since its founding in 1931 by Swami Nirmalananda a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna and a brother disciple of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Ramakrishnananda and others.
