The Douglaston Yacht Squadron is the local yacht club. It is a part of the Douglaston Club, a country club based in Van Zandt's original mansion in Douglas Manor. The Douglaston Club is also site of various community events, such as the Douglaston Chess Congress' annual championships, which decides the community's best players. The interior was restored by Kevin Wolfe Architect.

As of 2021, club membership requires an initial fee of $6,500 and monthly dues of $250; members also must spend $350 each quarter on food and drinks.
