A hidden gem: LIVE MEXICAN MUSIC every weekend

Many Mexican norteno bands (consisting of accordions, guitars, and vocals) play rancheras here on weekend (Saturday and Sunday) afternoons. Even though most of the bands are hired for private parties and picnics, any passerby who takes an interest in these bands will surely be warmly welcomed. Excellent opportunity to get to know the San Jose Hispanic community and practice some Spanish.

Custom-requested songs are available for a small fee or even free if you're nice. (Try the songs "Puno de Tierra" and "Chuy y Mauricio.")

Kelley Park attractions include:

-Happy Hollow Park (San Jose's zoo)
-Historical houses: many historic houses from all over San Jose that were dismantled and moved here
-Japanese Friendship Garden: beautiful little Japanese-style garden, but is not as good as Hakone Gardens in Saratoga
-Viet Museum: under construction. Covers Vietnamese-American heritage, highlighting the role of South Viet soldiers in the Vietnam War, and
-Auto show area
