St. George's Cathedral (Addis Ababa)


Saint George (transliterated as Kidus Geyorgis) is an Orthodox Cathedral in Addis Ababa. Located in the area known as Arada, near Menelik Square. Emperor Haile Selassie was crowned here on November 2nd 1930. It's one of the earliest churches in Addis Ababa.

the church was designed and the contractor was a greek architect. some of the wall paintngs was done by metre artist afework tekle.The church is also known for its ideal location where family disputes,marriage counselling take place.

beautiful church on beautiful grounds. The small museum beside it is very interesting and worth a visit. The murals inside this church are huge and so colorful, this where Haile Selassie I was crowned King.

i love that peaceful church. Alwayes amazing by the art have been made long time ago. not only for christain but also for muslim too. we sometimes sit and get fresh air.
