This is actual Paithan, Place of "Sant. Eknath Maharaj".
Taluka in Aurangabad district. History reveals that the olden name of this place is Pratistanapuram, the capital of Satavahanas also known as Salivahana and the Salivahana Saka we use in Hindu calenders are named after Salivahana dynasty. Gautami Putra Satakarni period this is the western capital of his kingdom. The main capital being Danyakatakam or present day Guntur district, Amaravathi town in Andhra Pradesh.

  • really paithan is a gr8 historical city. it was capital of king SHAK-SHALIWAHANA during the then period. 2day v counting the era was started by this gr8 king " shaliwahana ". Hence it is called as Shake ... into sanskrit. 2day there are old proofs of that golden city r there remain.
