The reservoir of the dam is also known as "Nath Sagar".

Jayakwadi Dam (on river Godavari)is famous for its vantage points for bird watching. A wide variety of resident and migratory birds are found in the vicinity of the dam. The best season to visit the place is between October and March. Dnyaneshwar Udyan and Balasaheb Patil Museum are the nearby attractions.

Jayakwadi dam is known for attracting a wide variety of resident and migratory birds. On August 9, 2006, Paithan experienced its worst flood in known history when the dam floodgates were opened because of heavy rainfall in the region.
