The Tamilnadu Theological Seminary was established 1969. TTS was given the mandate by the Churches to train pastors for the Tamil churches, with an emphasis on indigenization and involvement. Truly an Ecumenical venture, TTS is jointly supported by the Church of South India, the Arcot Lutheran Church and the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church, whose representatives form part of its Governing Council.
The twin approach of Contextual Theology with social concern and involvement has made Tamilnadu Theological Seminary to emerge as a pioneering institution, which has put forth Dalit Theology into the hallowed precincts of the Theological Education in India.
