Likely the smallest 5A stadium in Texas, tiny Birkelbach, home of the Georgetown Eagles through 2007, sits in a municipal park. Although praised for its fan sightlines - with no track and narrow sidelines, fans in the front row are almost eligible receivers - this facility is cramped, outdated, with little to no parking for 5A-sized crowds, has horrendous dressing rooms reminiscent of a Texaco bathroom on the border, and is outsized by many 3A and even 2A stadiums maintained by other Texas schools. But there's a light on the horizon for Georgetown's 16-5A opponents- GISD has built a big new stadium on campus that will open in 2008.
