Broadway Theatre (Saskatoon)

Canada / Saskatchewan / Saskatoon / Broadway Avenue, 715
 theatre, cinema, Art Deco (architecture)

The Broadway Theatre is an excellent example of post-war "art deco" design. It looks very similar to how it appeared when it first opened in 1946 for a showing of "Shine on Harvest Moon". Special features of the theatre included a parabolic floor for easy viewing, a main floor ladies powder room, as well as a special "crying room" for infants.

Today, the Broadway Theatre is a community-owned independent cinema and performance theatre. It is Saskatoon's premiere venue for arthouse films, and was a key player in the rejuventation of Broadway in the 1990s.
