 nature reserve, salt lake

Nanevska Tuzla, erroneously called Taukliman (Bird's Bay) after the nearby bay, is a small lake in the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast near the Yaylata Reserve, Kavarna Municipality.
Its salinity varies from 2.3 to 87 ‰. The bottom of the lake is covered with healing hydrogen sulfide mud (estuarine mud).
During seasonal migrations, the lake is filled with many birds that stop here to rest and feed. The rock massifs and the slopes covered with dense vegetation give shelter to the birds - owl, white-tailed buzzard, great olive mockingbird, several endangered reptiles - snake lizard, tench lizard, thorn tortoise.
